About Me

I have decided to develop this blog as a way to introduce and showcase the fundamental use of literacy through media such as books, movies, and music.

I am a former Youth Services Assistant who worked in two suburban Chicagoland libraries. After enjoying the interaction with young children which sparked an interest in reading and learning, I decided to go back to school for Early Childhood Education.

I currently work as a three's all-day preschool teacher at a local daycare center. I feel that glitter, glue sticks and silliness definitely lend a hand to educating and entertaining our youngest minds.

This site will include items such as:
  • Book reviews of children's adult, and teen literature
  • I have personally designed all of the crafts which are shown in the DIY Storytime Smackdown storytime templates through use of coloring page templates, hand drawings or Cricut Cartridges. If you would like to use any of the crafts or ideas (if I have written a poem, song or other activity my name will be below it) created by me on your site or blog, please make sure to link the post back to the specific posting on my blog.
  • My book-loving mascot Bentley Bookworm's thoughts on literature, his book reviews, and photos of him visiting local libraries.
  • General, up-to-date information and interesting articles on libraries and books.
  • The Judging a Book By Its Cover: The Most Beautifully Illustrated Books feature which describes picture books whose illustrations and text draw the reader into the story through the use of magnificent illustration.
  • Descriptive reviews of libraries within the state of Illinois.
  • And much more!

Please make sure to visit this blog frequently to catch up on all the new and exciting possibilities that books, libraries, and reading have to offer!
